About This Spot

Stepping into Tacos Tacuba feels like catching a breath of Mexico City right in the heart of Minneapolis. The space hums with a steady, welcoming rhythm—lively yet unhurried—a place where conversations and aromas mingle freely, inviting you to settle in and savor the moment. It’s not just a meal here; it’s a glimpse into an everyday ritual that’s both vibrant and comforting.

The atmosphere hints at something familiar yet richly textured, marked by touches that echo bustling city streets far south of the border. This is a spot where the sizzle of trompo-grilled al pastor fills the air, and the soft warmth of freshly oiled tortillas carries a story of care and tradition. You might catch a friendly nod from behind the counter as the team assembles massive tortas, each loaded with ingredients that feel thoughtfully layered and deeply satisfying.

At Tacos Tacuba, the food shapes the experience without ever feeling rushed. The rich, charred edges of the meats, the playful crunch of a perfectly fried gordita, or the bright, spicy punch of a well-crafted salsa combine to keep each bite lively and private—a personal celebration of flavor that echoes the convivial spirit of its neighborhood. It’s clear that every element, from the guacamole’s creamy zest to the nostalgic Mexican sodas, is chosen not just to fill but to connect and delight.

While the place buzzes with energy, there’s also an ease here—an invitation to slow down and engage with the food and the simple joy of sharing a moment in a setting that feels honest and heartfelt. Long-time patrons and first-timers alike find themselves drawn into something quietly authentic, a comfort that lingers well after the meal is over.

Ordered: 3x Chorizo Tacos 3x Asada Tacos 1x Pollo Taco 1x Special pork taco 1x Jalapeno Toreado 1x Mexican Coke Liked: -The tortillas themselves were one of the best! Soft and didn't break at all, and drenched in great flavor! -The red salsa was very delicious and had a great spice to it. loved it! -The special pork taco was delicious -The asada and chorizo had good (but not amazing) flavor Could improve: -The green salsa was too runny and not spicy at all. Flavor wasn't there either -Chicken was quite dry -Asada could do with more marinating Overall: Would come again for chorizo and pork tacos.

Found this place on Tiktok, the torta was very tasty and the taco de costilla was huge! This place was worth the hype authentic and the salsas packed flavor and spice. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

AL PASTOR!! they even used a trompo if you know you know! Perfectly seasoned with a good char on the outside fresh pineapple this is where it was at. They even oiled up and cooked their tortillas! All the salsa was delicious too. The gordita was crunchy and soft at the same time and well seasoned! The steak was solid but the al pastor is where it is at. How does place is only rated 4.2 is beyond me!

Came here after a couple of friends recommended this spot and well I was craving a torta and was in the area so I decided to stop by. They have a huge selection of tortas to go through, probably should’ve taken a picture of the tortas menu but I was just so in awe by what all goes inside these massive sandwiches! After reading every tortas ingredients I went with the Zocalo and in all honesty I didn’t think it would be as big as it was. The cashier ladies eyes opened so wide when i ordered that torta, I should’ve known it would be big. But she was so kind and made me feel welcomed. It took about 15 minutes to receive my food which seems totally reasonable for something of its size. Took it back to my truck and when I opened that box, my jaw dropped it was unbelievable. Just trying to grab it was so hard let alone take a picture! I went in for that first bite, couldn’t even fit it all so I had to take 2 bites to try to get a bit of everything. So full of flavor! The cheese was nice and gooey, I’m a sucker for some good cheese. The meats were well seasoned, the milanesa was on point and just all in all fantastic. I got full with a less than half of this torta. It was $23 but in all honesty, worth it. I have yet to try other items on their menu but they got a bunch of food options!

Since the moment you get into this restaurant you feel you're in Mexico City! Excellent customer service, they are friendly and kind, food is another level, my son got the famous vikinga torta, it was huge and delicious the meat and all the ingredients were fresh and really good!! The metro wagon they have inside look so similar to the metro in Mexico City! 100% recomended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Takes a while to get food if you order the gigantic torta. Would like to try other items someday.
